Today's Scripture

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." -2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV)

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is usful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroghly equipped for every good work." -2 Timothy 3:14-17 (NIV)

Reflect on the Word

Like a house with a solid foundation or a tree with a healthy root system, our lives can only withstand the turbulent shifting of the times when Christ is at the center of our life, faith and practice. God's Word has brought order out of chaos, calmed the wind and rain, and raised the dead to life; these same words of truth can anchor your life amid storms in whatever season you are facing.

Prayer & Contemplation

  1. As you assess your life, what scriptures are you meditating on to keep you anchored in Christ through dark times?
  2. Pray for those around you who are walking through a difficult season (e.g., health issues, relationships, finances, ministry). Ask God to give them encouragement and hope, that they would spend time in His Word and among His people.
  3. Ask God to give His Word deep and lasting roots in your heart to keep you steady and stable in seasons of disruption and disorientation.
